Today we just want to do a wrap up on The Help.
What did you all think of the book?
We liked it; it was very poignant, sad, funny and could be lighthearted at the same time. The characters were so real, which is part of what makes a novel something you will remember. This is one of those books that we will always remember and carry the characters around with us for a long time. Don't you love books like that?
Of course, we have to know what you all thought of Minny's pie? Have you ever been that mad, or do you think you could ever do something like that? I'm just wondering how she went about the technical side of it...did she save and scoop or did she do it right into the pan...? Sick.

Ok just checked the library list and this months pick is there and so is the extra credit! Now I better get over there today and get them!
ReplyDeleteI kept trying to guess what Minny did but I don't think I ever would have come up with the pie story.
ReplyDeleteI also thought the build up to the missing silver was great and felt anxious reading it because the reader knew what to expect...unlike Aibileen.
Dang, I need to get the nov book with a newborn i've been out of the loop! I will look it up!
ReplyDeleteMinnie's pie was gross and awesome at the same time. If any of you didn't read this book, make sure to put it on your list for the future...it was really that good. Books like that don't come around too often for me. Thanks for bringing it to our attention mom!

ReplyDeleteI loved this book. Skeeter was so real and lovable and the other characters were just as mezmerizing. I thought Minnie's pie was FANTASTIC and well deserving. The spin to use it and keep the peace at the end of the story was not expected, but I liked it. I was sorry to hear about Abileen's ending, but not surprised. This was a great pick!
ReplyDeleteI've already started on November's pick AND finished Emma and Me on my trip this week. Whoa! Not expecting that. Had not ever read Elizabeth Flock before and am a big fan now!
I didn't get this book started until late but I LOVED it. One of the best books I've read in a while.
